Nefertari Vase

A tribute to Queen Nefertari, the beloved wife of Ramesses II, whose tomb is often called the most beautiful in the Valley of the Queens.

Each vase is hand-carved from natural limestone, the same way ancient Egyptian artisans did it thousands of years ago. It shows Nefertari in profile, wearing her royal vulture headdress and broad collar, with one hand raised in the timeless gesture of ancient Egyptian wall art. The outlines are carved into the stone by hand, and turquoise and ochre triangle bands frame the scene at the shoulder and base.

The colors come straight from nature. The pigments and patina are made from ground stone, clay, and the leaves and bark of the acacia tree, the same tree that gives us gum arabic. The result is a warm, weathered finish that looks like it was just found in an ancient tomb.

It stands well on its own as a statement piece. You can also fill it with dried pampas, wheat, or palm leaves for a warm, earthy look. Every piece is carved and painted by hand, so small variations in color and texture make each one unique.
